Robert E. Shuman


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Robert E. "Bob" Shuman, 74, of 1024 Warm Spring Road, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Born June 21, 1927, in Chambersburg, he was the son of Ana Berger Shuman of Chambersburg and the late Samuel C. Shuman.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Nan B. Stevens, in 1996.

He attended Chambersburg schools.

He worked for Mellott Manufacturing in Mercersburg, Pa., as a welder from 1976 until he retired in 1997. Earlier, he worked with his father learning the trade of a blacksmith.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific and American Theaters.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Karen Stoner, Robert E. Shuman Jr. and Kimberley Ewan, all of Chambersburg; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no public viewing.

Evelyn L. Otto


CHESHIRE, Conn. - Evelyn Lorraine Otto, 87, of 453 Riverside Drive, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Conn.

Born July 26, 1913, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late John William and Nenaugh Johnson Vickers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ensor B. Otto, in 1991.

She was formerly employed by Jamison Cold Storage Door Co.

Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg. The Rev. Carroll Boyer will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
