Veterans can switch to better program
FREDERICK, Md. - Veterans who entered the military under the Veterans Education Assistance Program (VEAP) now have the opportunity to switch to the more lucrative Montgomery GI Bill educational assistance, officials at Fort Deitrick in Frederick said.
As part of the Veterans Benefit and Health Care Improvement Act of 2000,
veterans who entered the military from Jan. 1977 through June 1985 under
VEAP are eligible to enroll in the Montgomery GI Bill now through Oct. 31,
2001. The MGIB pays up to three-times the amount of educational
assistance above VEAP.
