Lawrence C. Bookheimer


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Lawrence C. "Lank" Bookheimer, 74, of 111 Lincoln Drive, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born April 27, 1927, in Cito, Pa., he was the son of the late Edwin and Beatrice Souders Bookheimer.

He had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot for 43 years, beginning as a truck driver and guard and retiring after more than 20 years as a computer programmer.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fayetteville.

He was a member of Landis McCleaf Marine Corps League, Burt J. Asper American Legion and VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Metcalf Bookheimer, whom he married March 22, 1948; a daughter, Kathy Miller of Carlisle, Pa.; three sons, Michael Bookheimer of Hagerstown, Samuel Bookheimer of Pittsburgh, and David Bookheimer of Fayetteville; three sisters, Elva Davis of Holidaysburg, Pa., Catherine Peters of Scotland, Pa., and Rae Mellott of Needmore, Pa.; six brothers, Merrill Bookheimer, Dean Bookheimer and Jack Bookheimer, all of Chambersburg, Robert Bookheimer of Richmond, Va., Ronald Bookheimer of Columbus, Ohio, and Clyde Bookheimer of McConnellsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Bookheimer.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Ltd., 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. David Hefner will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 44 East Main Street, Fayetteville, PA 17222 or to a charity of one's choice.




Mary E. Weaver


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary E. Mong Weaver, 78, of 6400 Rock Hill Road, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1922, in Ringgold, she was the daughter of the late David E. and Lillian Kendall Mong.

Her husband, Earl M. Weaver, died June 10, 1999. They were married Jan. 17, 1942.

She was a homemaker and helped her late husband on the family farm. In her earlier life she worked at Waynesboro Knitting Mill and at J.C. Penney Store both in Waynesboro. She had been working part-time at Windmill Farms Greenhouse, Chambersburg.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle, Pa.

She was survived by three sons, Earl M. Weaver Jr., William D. Weaver and Douglas W. Weaver, all of Chambersburg; five sisters, Kathryn Wolfe of Boonsboro, Sylvia Weaver, Charlotte Heefner and Margaret Bennett, all of Waynesboro, and Helen McCardell of Chambersburg; two brothers, Sydney Mong of Smithsburg, and Homer Mong of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Mong, Elmer Mong, Joseph Mong, Richard Mong and David Mong.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. Martin H. Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home,, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 North Washington Street, Greencastle, PA 17225.




Ruth E. Davis


KEEDYSVILLE, Md. - Ruth E. Davis, 79, of 3709 Trego Mountain Road, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 1, 1922, in Chestnut Grove, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Rohrer and Lillian Metz Ebersole Jones.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Chestnut Grove Bible Church.

She is survived by her husband, Howard F. Davis Sr., whom she married Nov. 14, 1937; a son, Howard F. Davis Jr. of Myersville, Md.; a sister, Blanche Ridenour of Mt. Lena, Md.; two brothers, Leonard Ebersole of Chestnut Grove, and Harry Jones of Williamsport; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lena Ridenour; and a brother, David Ebersole.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to assist the family may be made to Howard F. Davis Sr., 3709 Trego Mountain Road, Keedysville, MD 21756.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ferman C. Mellott, 77, of 1263 Marvern Drive, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital.
