Meet the candidates - Victoria Bodnar

City Council candidate

Victoria K. Bodnar

  • Age: 57
  • Address: 117 E. Franklin St.
  • Party: Republican
  • Occupation: Commercial decorator
On the issues:

-- Wants a landlord registration program that would charge landlords a fee for each rental housing unit they own. The program would help clean up the city and fund the city's code enforcement efforts, Bodnar says.

-- Supports continuing and possibly expanding police foot patrols downtown as a way to increase police visibility.

-- Supports creating tax incentives for businesses and homeowners to fix up and stay in downtown properties.

-- Wants all City Council meetings to begin at 7 p.m. Currently, some meetings start at 4 p.m., which she says is too early for many people.

-- Opposes city funding for a new baseball stadium because she believes the city has higher priorities.

-- Supports a city subsidy for Community Rescue Service.

"I want to be a voice for the quality of life issues for those of us who reside here, in downtown."
