Firefighters battle two-acre blaze in W.Va.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - About 25 to 30 firefighters battled a blaze of up to two acres off U.S. 522 near the West Virginia/Virginia state line Sunday afternoon.

The fire was about six or seven miles straight up the mountainside off the road, said Scott Michael, fire chief for the South Morgan Volunteer Fire Department. Firefighters had the perimeter of the blaze contained within about 20 minutes, Michael said.

Five companies from three states responded to the blaze.

The fire was reported at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported and no damage was reported except to the woods.
