Two people listed fair following accident

Two people were in fair condition at Washington County Hospital following an accident on Interstate 81 Sunday afternoon, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown and a nursing supervisor said.

Police said R. John Glackin, 29, of McHenry, Md., was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer north on I-81 near in the left lane when an slow-moving vehicle entered his lane.

Glackin was forced to swerve to avoid the car and drove off the road onto the median at 3:26 p.m.

The blazer struck an embankment, rolled over and landed upright in the southbound lanes of I-81, police said.

Glackin and his passenger Jennifer Hanna, 27, of Westlake, Ohio, were flown to the hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter.

Traffic on I-81 south was stopped for about 30 minutes as a result of the accident, police said.

Interstate 81 north remained opened, but traffic was slow due to motorist slowing down to watch the accident investigation.
