SMITHSBURG - Smithsburg edged Brunswick by six points and North Hagerstown by nine for the boys title, while the Hubs turned back the Leopards by 20 for the girls championship at the Smithsburg Invitational on Saturday.

Smithsburg used a 2-3-4 finish in the high jump and wins from Miguel Forero in the 400-meter dash, Zach Fay in the triple jump and the 400 and 1,600 relays to hold off Brunswick and North.

The Hubs' Mark Noll set a meet record in the pole vault, winning the event with a leap of 13 feet, 3 inches, while Steve Heagy won the 800 and 1,600. Boonsboro's Brett Morrell won the 110 high hurdles and the long jump.

Brittany Tesla won the high jump and shared the pole vault title with teammate Cailin Shoop, while Lindsay Zerance won the 3,200 for North's girls.

Boonsboro's Maggie Tierney won the 100 and 400, setting a meet record in the 400 in 1 minute flat.

Smithsburg's Laura Stouffer won the 800 and 1,600, setting a meet record in the 800 in 2:26.6.

ACCIDENT, Md. - Justin Moore only allowed a bloop single with two outs in the fifth inning as Hancock topped Northern Garrett.

Moore (2-2) struck out six and walked two.

Danny Keefer and Mark Hoffman had two hits for Hancock (5-4).

KEYSER, W.Va. - The Applemen scored early and often against Keyser in a doubleheader sweep.

Jason Bozzi went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the first game, while allowing two earned runs and striking out 10 in a complete game win for Musselman. Wes Kees had three hits, while Craig White and Bobby Levie had two hits.

Bobby Weatherholtz hit two of the Applemen's four home runs in the second game and finished with six RBI as Musselman (11-7-1, 5-1 Potomac Valley Conference) scored 10 runs in the sixth inning.

White, who finished with three RBI on two hits, and Brandon Combs also homored for the Applemen. Kees and Chris Price had two hits, while Kees pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and four runs.
