MIDDLETOWN - Alan Webber doubled in the winning run in the top of the eighth inning and spoiled a good pitching performance by Middletown's Chris Rhoades as No. 3 Brunswick defeated Middletown 2-1 in a Monocacy Valley Athletic League contest on Thursday.

Rhoades went 7 1/3 innings, scattering five hits while striking out eight. Lack of run support hurt him as the Knights stranded 12 runners, leaving the bases loaded in the seventh without scoring.

Woody Conner led Brunswick (7-2, 6-1), going 2-for-3 with a double. Heath Brown was 4-for-4 for Middletown (5-5, 5-3) and Ryan Lewis had two hits.
