MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Ryan Lipscomb struck out eight and allowed two hits in six innings of work as he improved to 4-1 for Jefferson in a 6-0 victory over Ridgewood in the Hawaiin Tropic Classic on Monday.

Chris Brooks had two RBI and hit a double and a triple as Donnell Lee and Craig Smith each had an RBI for the Cougars (15-3).

Shepherd sixth

WHEELING, W.Va. - Shepherd College finished sixth in the WVIAC Northern Regional Golf Tournament with a team score of 326. Ross Shapiro finished 10th with a 78, while Billy Clusman and Mike Masters tied for 16th, shooting 80.

Hood wins softball honor

Shepherd pitcher Jill Hood, a Middletown graduate, was named West Virginia Conference co-Pitcher of the Week along with Fairmont State's Becca Kostival.

Hood pitched 16 innings in two games last week, allowing four earned runs. She struck out eight in a victory over Columbia Union last Tuesday, and pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout over Charleston on Saturday.

Shepherd is 10-4 in WVIAC play.

Federal Little League

Rotary 24, Kiwanis 7: Kyle Hoffman had five hits, including a home run, Colin McWilliams had three hits and Mark Dattilio had nine strikeouts for Rotary on Saturday. Nick Mussolino had two hits for Kiwanis.

Alsatia 8, American Legion 2: Andrew Stout had two hits, including a home run, and Jake Geesman had two hits for American Legion on Saturday.

Alsatia 7, Lions 6: Andrew Stout had two hits. Andy Lytle and Tyler Hornbecker had two hits apiece for the Lions.

Clear Spring Minor League

Cubs 12, Pirates 8: Austin Yost scattered three hits and Taylor Leonard had three hits for the Cubs. Brandon Murphy had three hits and Jeremy Bonds, Brandon Schildthneck and Nathan McCall had two hits apiece. Ronnie Manners and Garrett Higgins had three hits. Steve Shoemaker and Joshua Kelley each had two hits for the Pirates.

Astros 8, Reds 2: Danny Reed and Brian Doyle combined for 12 strikeouts for the Astros. Brett Turner had two hits for the Reds.

National Little League

AMVETS 6, Long Meadow Exxon 0: Spencer Cromer and Marcellus Sumlin combined for a perfect game with 15 strikeouts. Cromer and Wes Samples had two hits.

Conococheague Little League

Lions 9, Post 202 2: Lee Draper threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts and Colby McCauley had two hits for the Lions. Andrew Twigg hit a two run homer for Post 202.

Maugansville Junior League

Pughs 9, Hagerstown Kitchens 3: Chris Miller had 10 stikeouts and T.J. Cooper had three hits for Pughs. Doug Jones had two hits for Hagerstown Kitchens.

Maugansville Senior League

Larry Allen 5, Hagerstown Trust 4: Jeff Cummings snd Joe Yeager had two hits and Daniel Zmora had a two-run double in the seventh inning for Larry Allen. Cummings pitched six no-hit innings.

Valley Little League

Dorsey Bros. 13, St. Lawrence Cement 2: Jeremy Martin had four hits while Steven Younker had three. Brad Logsdon added two hits for Dorsey.
