Earth Day is Sunday, April 22.

The first Earth Day - an event during which people around the world celebrate the earth and their responsibility toward it - was organized in 1970 by Gaylord Nelson and Denis Hayes, according to the Earth Day Network. Earth Day Network is the nonprofit coordinating body of worldwide Earth Day activities.

The network offers the following suggestions for how to celebrate Earth Day:
