Dixie L. Montgomery


Dixie Lee Montgomery, 54, of 426 McDowell Ave., Hagerstown, who died Friday, April 13, 2001, was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Dawn Montgomery.




Nellie A. Williams


Nellie A. Williams, 77, of 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown and formerly of West Washington Street, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 3, 1924, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Earl Martin and Catherine Rose Marie Crider Baker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Williams, in 1970.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by two daughters, Dixie L. Smith and Arlene E. Gatrell, both of Hagerstown; six sons, David E. Williams of Marlowe, W.Va., Earl W. Williams of Augusta, Ga., and Larry M. Williams, Robert D. Williams, Donald E. Williams and John A. Williams, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Earl Patrick Baker of Maugansville; 28 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lee Williams, and two sisters, Margaret Frazier and Kitty Baer.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St. in Hagerstown. Burial will be in Stouffer's Mennonite Church Cemetery in Smithsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary S. Petre


BOONSBORO - Mary Susan Petre, 93, of Fahrney Keedy Home and formerly of 13412 Highlane St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Fahrney Keedy Home.

Born Sept. 24, 1907, in Reid, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry D. and Anna B. Haugh Rowland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke M. Petre, in 1980.

She was a member of Long Meadow Church of the Brethren.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Strite of Maugansville; a son, Richard Petre of Walkersville, Md.; three brothers, Russell Rowland of Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth Rowland of Chambersburg, Pa., and Harold Rowland of Greencastle, Pa.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Long Meadow Church of the Brethren, 19642 E. Longmeadow Road in Hagerstown. The Revs. Harry J. Paterson and Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Long Meadow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Marian V. Wible


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Marian V. Wible, 79, of 9269 Gap Road, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at her home.

Born Jan. 27, 1922, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wylie E. and Ella Shatzer Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbet J. Wible, in 1983.

She was employed by the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg, Pa., for 30 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1979.

She was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Waynesboro.

She was a member of AARP of Waynesboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Freeman of Waynesboro; two sons, Ronald G. Wible of Chambersburg and James N. Wible of Waynesboro; a brother, Lester Smith of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg. Pastor Dean R. Negri will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens near Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Hattie M. Donivan


BARDANE, W.Va. - Hattie May Donivan, 82, of Bardane, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.

Born June 3, 1918, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry Clinton and Estella Reynolds Hoffman Gray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Martin Donivan, in 1977.

She was a member of Elk Branch Presbyterian Church in Duffields, W.Va.

She is survived by two sons, Lewis F. Donivan of Halltown, W.Va., and Ronald M. Donivan of Bardane; two sisters, Eunice Donivan of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Kathryn Stum of Hagerstown; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary E. Springer, Frances Way, Nina Hilliard and Mabel Way, and three brothers, Harry C. Gary Jr., Charles N. Gray and Vernon L. Gray.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Robert White will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Blackburn


HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Charles "Pete" Blackburn, 73, formerly of The Woods Resort and Lutherville, Md., died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marylouise "Lou" Blackburn; a daughter, Sandy Reid of Phoenix, Md.; a son, A.C. Blackburn of Edgewater, Md.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
