Arthur E. Rinehart


QUINCY, Pa. - Arthur E. Rinehart, 90, of Quincy United Methodist Home and formerly of 33 Barnett Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, April 13, 2001, at the nursing home.

Born April 16, 1910, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl O. and Elva A. Zeigler Rinehart.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi L. Baer Rinehart, in 1992. They were married Sept. 8, 1931.

He was a 1928 graduate of Washington Township High School.

He was employed by Baer's Feed Mill for more than 40 years.

He was a member of Welty's Church of the Brethren near Smithsburg.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gingrich, and a brother, Richard M. Rinehart.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. John Mowen will officiate. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery near Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dixie L. Montgomery


Dixie Lee Montgomery, 54, of 426 McDowell Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at her home.

Born Feb. 2, 1947, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Aileen Virginia Fulks Rowland of Hagerstown and the late Charles Robert Mehaffey.

She and her husband operated a snowball stand on McDowell Avenue.

She attended Robinwood Church of God.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 36 years, Robert L. Montgomery Sr.; a son, Robert L. Montgomery Jr. of Hagerstown; a sister, Faith Foltz of Hagerstown; her stepfather, Richard D. Rowland of Hagerstown; three stepsisters, Marilyn Condon, Belinda Peterson and Judy Hunt, all of Hagerstown; five stepbrothers, Leonard Rowland, David Swain, Robert Mowdy and Kelly Swain, all of Hagerstown, and Larry Burton of Conway, Ariz.; a granddaughter; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown. The Rev. Henry E. Marquiss will officiate.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dennis E. Hall Sr.


BRUNSWICK, Md. - Dennis Eugene Hall Sr., 49, of 615 9th Ave., died Friday, April 13, 2001, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.

Born April 29, 1951, in Roaring Springs, Pa., he was the son of George Henry and Romaine Whetstone Hall of Woodbury, Pa.

He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church in Jefferson, Md.

He was a member of VFW Post 10421 of Brunswick.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Shirley Hall; a daughter, Valerie Schwarz of Brunswick; a son, Dennis Hall Jr. of Frederick, Md.; four sisters, Bonnie Keyser of Waldorf, Md., Charlotte Boone of Olney, Md., Barbara Darbi of Mechanicsville, Md., and Freda Dibert of Berlin, Pa.; three brothers, Gary Hall of New Enterprise, Pa., George Hall of Loysburg, Pa., and Samuel Hall of Waldorf; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hall.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Pastor Lori Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Jefferson United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick. The funeral home will open at 1 p.m.

Arthur T. Mitchell


BRUNSWICK, Md. - Arthur Thomas Mitchell, 82, of 620 N. Maple Ave., died Friday, April 13, 2001, at his home.

Born June 29, 1918, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles William and Virginia May Cox Mitchell.

He retired from R.F. Kline in Frederick, Md., and William C. Hetzer Inc. in Hagerstown as a heavy equipment operator.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Brunswick.

He was a member of Petersville Ruritan Club.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie R. Mitchell; a brother, John Mitchell of Richmond, Va.; three stepdaughters, Dorothy Guarnaccia of Norwich, Conn., Grace Schroyer of Frederick and Gloria Deener of Brunswick; a brother, John Mitchell of Richmond, Va.; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a niece; and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his foster parents, Howard and Louise Burtner; his former wife, Alice Mitchell; three sisters, Helen Jones, Nellie Cummings and Mary Baker; and a brother, Charles Lee Mitchell.
