Chambersburg man sentenced to time served on two charges

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was sentenced to time served for criminal trespass and assaulting a woman and was released from Franklin County Prison Wednesday.

"Don't ever come back here for beating up a woman," Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge John Walker told Ralph V. Wilson Jr. "I feel very strongly that anyone who beats up a woman should spend time in jail."

On the criminal trespass charge, Walker sentenced Wilson to the 57 days he had served, but if he violates terms of his probation in the next 23 months, he could return to jail.

Walker sentenced Wilson to 24 months probation on the simple assault charge.

At the request of the victim, Walker did not order Wilson not to have contact with her.

"You (have contact) at your own risk. If someone beats up on me I'm not as forgiving," he said.

Wilson, 37, of 307 N. Main St., arrived at the victim's apartment in the 700 block of Lincoln Way East at 11:35 a.m. Sept. 5, and kicked his way inside, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

He struck the victim, and when she locked herself in the bedroom, Wilson punched his way through that door. She then fled to her daughter's neighboring apartment, where Wilson again forced his way in and continued to assault her, the affidavit said.
