Tools stolen from two Washington County sites

Thieves hit two outbuildings in the 25400 block of Highfield Road in Cascade Saturday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

At one location, tools worth more than $500 were taken. At the other site, power tools valued at $400 turned up missing.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Also on Saturday, a red 1987 Suzuki 230 Quadrunner was taken from the 3400 block of Harpers Ferry Road, deputies said.

The vehicle was valued at approximately $1,000.

Chambersburg man hurt in Saturday night accident

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was injured Saturday night when his motorcycle and a car collided, Chambersburg Police said.


Joseph Campagno, 37, was taken to Hershey Medical Center with severe leg injuries, police said. His condition was not available Monday night.

The 7:45 p.m. accident occurred when Cheryl Yourkovich, 43, of Summit Point, W.Va., turned her 1990 Audi Sedan, which was headed south on Wayne Avenue, across the road in an attempt to enter the Interstate 81 ramp, police said. Campagno was driving north on Wayne Avenue, and his 1987 Harley Davidson struck the rear of the Audi, sending him off the motorcycle, police said.

He was wearing a helmet, police said.

Yourkovich was not injured, but her passenger, Helen Campbell, 70, of West Virginia,was treated at Chambersburg Hospital and released.

Police were still investigating the accident Monday and ask any witnesses to contact the Chambersburg Police Department at 717-264-4131.

Three injured when car goes off Quincy Twp. road

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Three men were slightly injured Thursday morning when their car traveled off a Quincy Township road, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Karl Hertzog Jr., 19, of Coatesville, Pa., David Tyler, 18, of Newton, Conn., and Paul Dougherty, 18, of West Chester, Pa., were treated at the scene by the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department, police said.

The accident happened at 1:40 a.m. on Slabtown Road at Pa. 997.

Hertzog was driving the car west on Slabtown Road when it crossed the center line into the eastbound lane, and the driver attempted to turn north on Pa. 997 without stopping at a posted stop sign, police alleged.

The vehicle slid across the intersection into a drainage ditch in the northwest corner of the intersection and traveled into a parking lot, where it struck a road sign and rolled over onto the passenger side, police said.

The car finally stopped on a grassy area, resting on the passenger side.

Police probing burglary at Greencastle business

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a burglary at a Greencastle business last week.

Someone removed $500 from a desk drawer at Applied Industrial Technologies, 20 Commerce Ave., between 5:10 p.m. Wednesday and 7:45 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Police are still investigating.
