SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Robert John Brady, 91, of Orchard View Farm, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia in Charles Town.

Born Nov. 18, 1909, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Oscar and Jenny Boyd Brady.

He owned and operated Orchard View Farm. He was the custodian at the community center in Bardane, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rubie C. Staubs Brady; a son, Norman Robert Brady of West Townsend, Mass.; two sisters, Annabelle Miller of Baltimore and Ruby Webster Stine of Charles Town; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Katie Brady, Frances Comer, Louise Ring and Rosebud Breeden; and two brothers, Douglas Brady and Jack Brady.

Private graveside services will be at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town. The Rev. J.T. Weise will officiate.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Ernest M. Nelson Jr.


BROWNSVILLE - Ernest Monroe "Sonny" Nelson Jr., 64, of Brownsville, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 1, 1937, in Greensboro, N.C., he was the son of the late F. Viola Walker and Ernest M. Nelson Sr.

He attended local schools.

He was employed by Victor Ditto for 20 years. He retired from Metropolitan Steel Inc. in Frederick, Md., in 1999.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Norma E. Nelson of Brownsville; three daughters, Lydia Nelson and Karen Jordon, both of Hagerstown, and Melleta Ingram of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; two sons, Harvey Nelson and Ernest M. Nelson III, both of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Idesta Mills of Mapleville, Md. and Penny Bowers of Keedysville; two stepsons, David Mills and Shawn Mills, both of Boonsboro; two sisters, Frances Ecton and Barbara King, both of Funkstown; seven grandchildren; and seven stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Larry Nelson.

Services will be Saturday at noon at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel in Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alan L. Heinz


THURMONT, Md. - Alan Leroy Heinz, 56, of 106 Rouzer Lane, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born April 10, 1944, in Pierce, Colo., he was the son of the late Henry and Susanna Martin Heinz.

He was a self-employed salesman affiliated with ATM Cash Systems of Maryland.

He was a member of Victory Tabernacle in Catoctin Furnace, Md.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane Everett Martin, whom he married Feb. 2, 1973; two daughters, Natalie Lowman of Emmitsburg, Md., and April Heinz, at home; one sister, Ruth Kilburn of Loveland, Colo.; four brothers, Harold Heinz of Denver, David Heinz of Greeley, Colo., Wilbur Heinz of California and Ronald Heinz of LaSalle, Colo.; one granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Heinz.

Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., in Thurmont. The Revs. David Reynolds and Hope Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 1 p.m.




Paul W. Shanholtz


Paul William Shanholtz, 81, of 1017 Georgia Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 5, 2001, at Coffman Nursing Home.

Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Issac William and Rebecca Shanholtz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline J. Shanholtz, on Oct. 19, 1999.

He retired from Fairchild Aircraft.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Salvation Army.

He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.

He is survived by three daughters, Paula Jean Ganoe, Sharon Lee Cullison and Mary Lou Rebecca Dean, all of Hagerstown; one son, Issac Russell Shanholtz of Hagerstown; two brothers, James Shanholtz of Hagerstown and Charles Shanholtz of Imperial Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Easterday and Agnes Zimmerman; and four brothers, Lewis Shanholtz, Roy Shanholtz, Melvin Shanholtz and Raymond Shanholtz.
