Motel occupants robbed at gunpoint

HALFWAY - Four men with semi-automatic handguns robbed the occupants of a room at the Motel 6 at 11321 Massey Blvd. early Thursday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

The robbers, who wore hooded sweatshirts, stole jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash from several people in one of the rooms, said Deputy Greg Alton.

Alton said one of the four men knocked on the door of the room around 3:15 a.m. When an occupant went to open the door the men forced their way inside and demanded jewelry and cash, he said.

The room had been rented by one person, who was being visited by four other people at the time of the robbery, said Alton.
