County boards need volunteers


Washington County is looking for volunteers to serve on county boards.

"We are always looking for citizens who want to become involved in local government," Washington County Administrator Rodney Shoop said Wednesday.

"This is a way they can become part of local government and participate in the decision-making process that goes on," he said

While some boards may have the needed number of appointees, files are kept with the names of those interested in future appointments.


The county has the following boards:

- Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Board.

- Agricultural Education Center.

- Animal Control Authority.

- Antietam Battlefield Advisory Commission.

- Appeal Tax Court.

- Area Agency on Aging.

- Building Code Appeals Board.

- Commission on Aging Board of Directors.

- Disability Advisory Committee.

- Adult Public Guardianship Review Board.

- Economic Development Commission.

- Board Examination and Supervision for Electricians.

- Ethics Commission.

- Fire and Rescue Communications Advisory Board.

- Gaming Commission,

- Public Golf Corporation.

- Health Advisory Board.

- Historic District Commission.

- Historical Advisory Committee.

- Housing Authority.

- Insurance Advisory Committee.
