June P. Smith


June Phyllis Smith, 81, of 14014 Marsh Pike, and formerly of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 1, 1920, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 11, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry Victor Sr. and Ruth Esther Souders Smith.

She was retired from L'Aiglon Apparel Inc.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a sister, Betty L. French of Brunswick, Md.; a brother, William R. Smith of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred A. Schlotterbeck, Charlotte J. Smith and Helen D. Smith; and two brothers, Harry V. Smith Jr., and George E. Smith.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary L. Weigle


QUNICY, Pa. - Mary Lewis Weigle, 88, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 201 N. Potomac St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the home.

Born Dec. 28, 1912, in DuBois, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Landing and Edith Miller Lewis.

Her husband, Ellis D. Weigle, died May 22, 1998. They were married Jan. 9, 1938.

She was a graduate of Sandy High School, DuBois.

She was employed as a beautician at Shockey and Miller Beauty Salon, and at Leighter Brothers and Williams Clothing Store before retiring.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Mummert of Winchester, Va.; a sister, Christina Lewis Schwem of Florida; a brother, Henry Lewis of Ohio; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Lewis Leach, Lillie Lewis Beard and Grace Lewis Hollopeter.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home Inc., Waynesboro. The Rev. Allen Mummert will officiate. Burial will be in Park Lawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quincy United Methodist Home.




Martha M. Shannon


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. Martha M. Shannon, 89, of Chambersburg, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born Aug. 19, 1911, in Orrstown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Clark R. and Amanda K. Weaver Hoffman.

Her husband, Samuel E. Shannon Sr., died June 29, 1974.

She was a member of King Street United Brethren Church, Chambersburg and Buds of Promise Sunday School class.

She was a member of Golden Age of Shippensburg Senior Citizen Club.

She is survived by four sons, Samuel E. Shannon Jr., Richard E. Shannon and Donald R. Shannon, all of Chambersburg, and Kenneth L. Shannon of Fayetteville, Pa.; three daughters, Joyce K. Timmons and Linda L. Bricker, both of Mecersburg, Pa., and Cynthia S. Jones of Chambersburg; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Revs. Lester F. Stine and Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and one half hour before the services on Wednesday.




Doris M. McConaghy


GERMANTOWN, Md. - Doris M. "Honey" McConaghy, 86, of Germantown, and formerly of Ohio Ave., Chambersburg, Pa., died Friday, March 30, 2001, in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md.

Born May 27, 1914, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Joshua and Mae Stokes Fernald.

Her husband, Edward McConaghy, died June 20, 1984.

She worked at Worth's Store, Chambersburg, for 29 years, retiring in 1980 as manager.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg.

She was a Gray Lady in Chambersburg with the American Red Cross and a member of Chambersburg Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris M. McCleary of Germantown, and Barbara Elaine McConaghy of Herndon, Va.; two grandchildren, Kim M. Greenblatt of Germantown, and Patrick M. McCleary of Boulder, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. The Rev. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing.

The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 225 East King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Memphis, TN.




James E. Lee


James E. Lee, 57, of 142 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, who died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare of Hagerstown, had been employed at Venice Restaurant as a cook. He was a cook for 40 years.
