Rhoda V. Dunkle

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Rhoda V. Dunkle, 86, of 323 Stouffer Ave., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at her home.

Born Aug. 7, 1914, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ellie G. Strike Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. "Dunk" Dunkle, in 1976.

She was a 1933 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She was employed by Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for 43 years, retiring in 1976.

She had attended Mount Olivet United Brethren Church in Chambersburg.

She was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Chambersburg; a former member of Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and its 40 et 8 club; and a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees 1063 of Chambersburg.


She is survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery, 990 Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, Franklin/Fulton Division, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Manuel R. Santoyo

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Manuel R. Santoyo, 28, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born Sept. 16, 1972, in Naranjos, Guanajuato, Mexico, he was the son of Edwardo Santoyo and Clementina Ruiz Santoyo of Mexico.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Juana Santoyo and Luz Oralia Santoyo, both of Mexico.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Rafael Murillo will be celebrant.

Burial will be private.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Daisy R. Thomas

BARTON, Md. - Daisy Rosella Thomas, 82, of Legislative Road, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, Md.

Born June 29, 1918, in Mill Run, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Katherine Clark Custer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Thomas, in 1990.

She was a homemaker.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen Dill of Sharpsburg, Mary Boone of Capon Bridge, W.Va. and Patricia Usakowski of Clawson, Mich.; five sons, James W. Thomas Jr. of Barton, Charles D. Thomas of Hagerstown, John Myers of Oxford, Mich., Eugene Myers of Pontiac, Mich. and Lester Myers of Attica, Mich.; a brother, Charles Custer of Barton; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Boal Memorial Chapel in Barton. The Rev. Harold Malone will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Moscow Mills, Md.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Ralph N. Shambaugh

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Ralph N. Shambaugh, 64, of Great Cacapon, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001.

Born Nov. 16, 1936, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of Gladys Shambaugh Sharp of Paw Paw, W.Va.

He worked in the insurance business; at T. H. Compton as a dispatcher; and operated Shambaugh's Grocery in Great Cacapon. He worked in the Morgan County Assessor's Office from 1977 to 1986; and then as clerk for the Morgan County Circuit Court in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., from 1987 through March 27.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Great Cacapon.

He was a member and past president of the Morgan County Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Jendrek Weller Shambaugh; a daughter, Tracy Fleece of Berkeley Springs; three sons, Ralph N. Shambaugh Jr., Jeff Shambaugh and John Shambaugh, all of Great Cacapon; two stepchildren, Heath Weller and Nicole Weller, both of Great Cacapon; a sister, Betty Lou King of Paw Paw; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St. in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Henry Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

J. Evelyn Jenkins Mills

KEEDYSVILLE - J. Evelyn Jenkins Mills, 83, of 4830 Porterstown Road, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 23, 1917, in Loudoun County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Cora Ellen Piper Jenkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd C. Mills, in 1971.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Briar Church of God.

She attended Warfordsburg, Pa., and Keedysville Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two daughters, Asenath E. Roberts of Keedysville and Bernice N.J. Roberts of Warfordsburg; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
