Mail Call for 3/20

"I guess that the goofy Civil War museum idea has finally died. A death deserved long ago. Museums should be in Gettysburg and other places with battlefields that want to support them, not in downtown Hagerstown."

"Why don't you people just wise up and read the paper. Some of the roads in Washington County were worse than the other roads and the buses couldn't get through because of the ice."

"I have a question, what is the new thing with people wanting an application fee for renting their apartments or homes. You know that they are only going to pick one to rent, but they get at least 15 fees, with no money returned. It sounds like a scam to me."

"Thursday on my way home, what a terrible mess on Salem Avenue. Trash bags broken and trash cans dumped on sidewalks and on the streets. The participants of this escapade must have been at least 7 years of age. Surely no one older than 7 could have been so immature, or could they? The children responsible for this act should think of better ways to vent their anger. How about joining the Boys Club or Girls Club or even a branch of the service. Remember, what comes around goes around and one day you will have to answer to God. How would you feel if this happened to you, your parents or your 80-year-old grandparents? Think about these things before you decide to do something so dumb again."

"Thanks Herald-Mail for getting to us the rest of Sunday's paper in a timely manner. Yes, we all grumbled when all of the paper wasn't there. All a person had to do was call your office to see what the problem was and you answered our questions in a nice manner."

"This goes out to the people on Elm Street complaining about the dogs barking. Let me tell you something, what about all these people who live on Elm Street, with West Virginia and Pennsylvania tags, how about getting them out of here?"

"This is an answer to the lady who got the $400 phone bill from the psychic hotline. I got one too, and I was wondering what you were going to do about it."

"I read the article about the man having sex with an underaged girl. I am thankful for his punishment, that he deserves. But, she was being protected for a sin that she committed willingly. Why not publish her name? She was just as guilty as the man was."

"I was wondering if anyone else out there has realized that the cable company has added a 16 cent sales tax on a converter box. They informed me that it is a state sales tax. They have done this for the past six months. What happened to all the years before that? Is the state that hard up that they have to have that last breath of tax?"

"Hagerstown is getting too many auto repair shops. What we need are more full-service stations that sell and pump gas."

"George it is nice that you came out and said something on TV, it is only about a week late. The more you talk the faster the stock numbers are going down. My, my."

"I am very happy to see that Glendening has put a hold on the campus funding. Now, maybe he will realize that the right place for this would be out at HCC where there is plenty of available space and not having the danger of our children being in downtown at night."
