Martinsburg man arrested in connection with attack

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Martinsburg police have arrested 33-year-old city man in a switchblade knife attack on another man last month.

Marvin Lee Redman, 621 N. High St., was arrested at a North Kentucky Avenue residence and charged with malicious wounding in connection with a Feb. 21 incident, according to a police report.

Redman allegedly attacked a Martinsburg man with the switchblade. The victim was admitted to the hospital as the result of the attack, according to the police report.

Redman was arraigned in Berkeley County Magistrate Court was being held at the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond, the police report said.

Man faces several charges related to June incident

MARTINSBURG, W.Va - Police charged a 29-year-old Martinsburg man Sunday with armed robbery, malicious wounding, burglary and battery in an incident last June.

Ernest Chalmers Byers, II, of 2074 Rosedale Cemetery Road, was arraigned in Berkeley County Magistrate Court and was being held Sunday in lieu of $101,500 bail at the Eastern Regional Jail, according to a police report.

Police said a man illegally entered a Martinsburg home last June 13, robbed and beat the male owner of the home with a hammer or staple gun and pushed the female resident down the stairs.

Officers recover terrier stolen from pet store

Hagerstown City Police recovered a Yorkshire terrier stolen from Petland Monday evening.

The dog was found at a home in the city and returned to the store by police officers, police said.

Teen charged with assault after victim hit on head

A 16-year-old was being held at the Hagerstown Juvenile Holdover after a man was hit on the head with a piece of metal Monday evening, Hagerstown City Police said.

Police said the juvenile and a 19-year-old man were arguing in the 600 block of South Potomac Street. During the argument, the juvenile grabbed a 3-inch metal ring and hit the man on the head, police alleged.

The juvenile was charged with first- and second-degree assault.

The name of the victim was unavailable.

Juvenile being held on drug possession counts

Hagerstown City Police found marijuana and money on a runaway juvenile Monday evening.

Police alleged the 16-year-old male had eight ounces of marijuana on him when he was picked up in the 100 block of East Franklin Street.

He was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute.

The juvenile was being held at the Hagerstown Juvenile Holdover Monday evening, police said.

Police seek assailant who hit man, stole CD player

A man was struck over the head with a bottle and robbed on East Avenue Monday, Hagerstown City Police said.

The victim told police a man assaulted him and stole his portable compact disc player at around 4 p.m.

The assailant was last seen heading toward Locust Street, police said.

Teenagers cited when Saturday night party raided

A raid on a teenage alcohol party netted a total of 19 teenagers late Saturday night after Maryland State Police and Washington County Sheriff's deputies converged on vacant property at 15408 National Pike at 11:55 p.m.

Trooper 1st Class Chris Bernard and Deputy 1st Class Tom Routzahn cited 17 juveniles for possession of alcohol, one for possession of marijuana and another for obstructing and hindering police.

More than 40 teenagers were present when police arrived. They were held inside the former garage by police, who found a full keg of beer.

A few partygoers were found hiding in the grease pit of the garage.

Hagerstown City Police are investigating several burglaries and thefts.
