"Heartbreakers" (PG-13) - A mother and daughter form a con-man team based in Palm Beach, Fla. Their scheme is a lucrative one - mother marries a rich man, daughter seduces him and the divorce settlement is the jackpot. It's a plan that works every time, except once. ... Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Gene Hackman, Jason Lee and Anne Bancroft star in this comedy.

* Writing contest

Sponsored by Peace Action chapters in Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties, and Maryland Peace Action Education Fund.

Open to all Maryland seventh- and eighth-grade students and home-schooled students at the same grade levels.

First place is $300; second place, $200; third place, $100. All participants will receive a certificate.

Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, May 1.

To enter, students must write a poem or lyrics to a rap song that promotes peace, justice, fairness and respect among all people.

Entries should be double-spaced on a word processor or typewriter. The entry must be accompanied by a cover sheet including the student's name, address, phone number or e-mail address; school name, address and phone number; and name of the teacher sponsor if applicable. * Engineering camp for girls

"Vec-Tour" or Venture in Engineering

The residential camp begins Sunday, July 22, and ends Saturday, July 28.

High school junior and senior women are invited to apply to Venture in Engineering at Pennsylvania State University's University Park campus.

The hands-on engineering experience will focus on materials and environment engineering, with sessions planned in material science, acoustic engineering, environmental systems and bioengineering.

Students will be housed in Penn State residence halls on campus.

Berkeley County Wildcats competition squad cheerleading tryouts

Monday, April 9, through Wednesday, April 11, 5:15 to 8:45 p.m.

Boys and girls ages 8 to 15 may try out for the squad. Participants need to attend all three days. A parent or guardian must accompany students the first night.
