Commissioners OK Tall Cedars Week

The Washington County Commissioners Tuesday designated March 18-24 Tall Cedars Week.

March 18 is the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, a charitable organization committed to finding a cure for neuromuscular diseases. The group supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association's research programs through the Tall Cedars Foundation.

The group sells roses and shamrocks and donates proceeds to muscular dystrophy research.

The Washington County Commissioners have awarded a $78,823 contract to Antietam Tractor of Hagerstown for a five-year lease on a tractor and flail mower for the Hagerstown Regional Airport.

Leasing the equipment will cost $15,164.60 per year for five years.

The airport's current tractor is 16 years old.
