Ask a Silly Question

What's the difference between a sweet potato and a yam?

Native to Asia and Africa, yams have thick skin and white, orange or purple flesh. Sweet potatoes, which have dry yellow or sweet orange flesh, are more common in the U.S.

Yams have fewer calories and less protein than sweet potatoes, which are also rich in vitamins A and C.

Both potato varieties are good sources of potassium.
