Home reported hit by paint balls

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Sometime in February a residence on the 11700 block of Shimpstown Road in Montgomery Township was hit by four paint balls, Pennsylvania State Police reported Saturday.

Anyone with information about the incident may contact police at 1-717-264-5161.

County hay fires called intentional

More than 30 bales of hay went up in flames early Saturday in separate fires that were believed to be related and intentionally set in southern Washington County.

Both fires were started with the same kind of accelerant, said Kurt Fales, assistant chief of the First Hose Co. of Boonsboro at the Rohrersville substation.

Fales said the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fires.

At about 2:40 a.m. firefighters responded to a private farm along the 21000 block of Dogstreet Road to extinguish about 20 burning round bales of hay burned, Fales said.

At about 2:30 p.m. firefighters from Fairplay were called to Bakersville and Sprecher roads where about a dozen bales were on fire, Fales said.
