Annual spring pops concert in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg Area Schools Symphony will perform its annual spring "Pops" concert Saturday, March 3, in Laird Hall of Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave.

This year's theme is "The Strings Hit Broadway." The doors will open at 6 p.m. and music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Food will be available, and there will be a raffle for prizes donated by the community.

Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for students in grades kindergarten through 12. Proceeds will go toward symphony trips.

Under the direction of Cindy Scanzello and Julie Emig, the symphony is comprised of students in grades eight to 12. Besides concerts in local schools and churches, each year the symphony takes a trip to tour and perform in another area. In previous years, the group has visited Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore and Toronto, Canada. This year the symphony will perform in Philadelphia and will attend a concert.
