MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - Minus two starters, No. 10 Chambersburg had hit the skids, losing five straight games to close the regular season. The Trojans got one back Wednesday night in the opening round of the Class AAAA District 3 playoffs.

It made all the difference.

Nate Holmes, who missed all five of those losses, had 18 points, and the Trojans held Governor Mifflin to just 10 first-half points on the way to a 52-33 win at Mechanicsburg High School.

Danley Shank also scored 11 points for Chambersburg (16-9), which plays Harrisburg in the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at a time and place to be determined.

Even with a loss, the Trojans are not eliminated from the tournament, which advances its top five to state play.
