William E. Golden

HANCOCK - William Eugene Golden, 61, of Washington Street, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 23, 1939, in Franklin Mills, Pa., he was the son of Juanita Hill Golden Coopey of McConnellsburg, Pa., and the late Eugene Golden.

He was a 1957 graduate of Southern Fulton High School in Warfordsburg, Pa. He attended Penn State University and Shepherd College.

He was employed by Hancock Bank. He retired from the loan department of First National Bank of Maryland in Hancock.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of Hancock United Methodist Church.

He was a member and past president of Hancock Lions Club; coached Hancock Little League; and announced for Hancock High School sports events.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Marian E. White Golden; a sister, Lyndall Wilt of Everett, Pa.; two brothers, Myron H. Golden of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and the Rev. Dale L. Golden of Valrico, Fla.; a stepsister, Phyllis Crane of Raleigh, N.C.; three stepbrothers, Lee Coopey of Pittsburgh, Dr. Donald Coopey of Lebanon, Pa. and David Coopey of State College, Pa.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Coopey; and two nephews.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Hancock United Methodist Church. The Revs. Duane Jensen, Edward James, Dale Golden, Roger Truax and F. Allan Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery in Hancock.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock, which will open at 2 p.m.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Delores V. Hessong

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Delores Virginia Autry Baker Hessong, 74, of Chillicothe, who died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, was formerly of 129 Alexansder St., Hagerstown

She also is survived by stepgrandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Odell Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.




Hannah R. Mowen

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Hannah R. "Babe" Mowen, 84, of 115 S. Fourth St., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Ankerbrand.

She was a 1934 graduate of Chambersburg High School.

She retired in 1989 after 15 years with Chambersburg Hospital where she worked in housekeeping and environmental services.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by one son, Robert O. Mowen of Chambersburg; one granddaughter, Vickie Locke of Concord, Pa.; and two great-granddaughters.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter Inc., 2325 Country Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Mary Bogatay

IMPERIAL, Pa. - Mary Bogatay, 84, of Imperial, and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at Allegheny General Hospital.

Born June 11, 1916, in South Fayette Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Michael Pucker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bogatay.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church.

She was a member of Findlay Township Senior Citizens; and St. Columbkille Senior Citizens.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rigot of Martinsburg; a son, Gary Bogatay of Coraopolis, Pa.; six grandchildren, Gary Bogatay Jr., Maureen Bogatay, Sherry Bogatay, James Bogatay, Mary Nicole Rigot and Vicki Rigot; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wharton-Herrick Funeral Home in Imperial. The Rev. Domenic Mancini will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Imperial.

Visitation will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.




Elva T. Wallace

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Elva Thelma Wallace, of Mount Vernon Nursing Center, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the nursing center.

She was the daughter of Laura Elva Shriver of Berkeley County, W.Va. and the late Benjamin Franklin Browne.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Robert Wallace Jr.

She is survived by a son, Robert D. Wallace; a granddaughter, Maryanne Cox; and two great-granddaughters.

Services will be today at 10 a.m. at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Road in Alexandria. Burial will be in Mount Comfort Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Jettie L. Beckley

Jettie Lorraine Beckley, 82, of 105 N. Edgewood Drive in Hagerstown, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 23, 1918, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Grover M. and Maude L. Shirey Ohler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. Crawford Beckley, in 1995.
