Goretti girls roll past Clear Spring

Monday night belonged to Lauren Costello for two reasons.

One reason was that she was the only senior player for St. Maria Goretti's Senior Night at the Gael Center.

The other reason was that Costello outscored the Clear Spring Blazers by three points to lead the Gaels (17-12 overall, 6-3) to an easy 64-22 win in an Apple Valley League game.

"I think that we had a really good transition game that was effective tonight," Costello said. "Tonight's performance was a great way to finish off the regular season. We wanted to come out strong and get the quick lead."

Costello grabbed 17 rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals to go along with her 25 points.

"(Costello) went out with a bang," St. Maria Goretti coach Todd Rideout said. "She has been very good and very consistent for us throughout her entire career. I think that she will do well at whatever college that she goes to."

Sabrina Betts led Clear Spring (3-18, 1-7) with eight points.
