George C. Tracy

George Columbus Tracy, 83, of 17802 Timberland, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at his home.

Born April 10, 1917, in Washington County, he was the son of the late George W. and Bessie Mary Francis Hose.

He retired in 1982 from Fairchild Aircraft.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42; VFW Thomas Pangborn Post 1936; AMVETS Post 10; Fraternal Order of Eagles 694, where he served as a trustee and held all local and state offices; Hagerstown Fire Police; U.A.W. Local 842; and Red Men Lodge 84 of Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. Roach Tracy; a daughter, Donna J. Kline of Hagerstown; a son, George G. Tracy of Wake Forest, N.C.; a stepson, Edward E. Mose of Medanales, N.M.; a sister, Beulah Minnich of St. Augustine, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Lavon Tracy; a sister, Mary E. Tracy; two brothers, Raymond S. Tracy and Roger E. Tracy Sr.; and a half-brother, Howard Rubeck.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Moynelle F. Smith

HANCOCK - Moynelle F. Smith, 90, formerly of Swann's Wood, Tollgate Ridge Road, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Homewood at Williamsport.

Born Dec. 3, 1910, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Edward Percy and Cora Hill Fost.

She was a graduate of Maryland State Normal School; and Shepherd College.

She retired from Hancock schools after 34 years as a teacher for grades kindergarten through eighth.

She was a member of Hancock Presbyterian Church, and had been the organist.

She was a member of Maryland State Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, H. Gerald Smith of Homewood at Williamsport; a daughter, Anne Hart Smith of Moorestown, N.J.; two sisters, Mary Powers of Hancock, and Betty Baker of Aberdeen, Md.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy V. Fost; and four brothers, Edward H. Fost, Herbert T. Fost, William H. Fost, and Mark H. Fost.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Main St., Hancock. The Revs. Margee Iddings and Willard Rahn will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas' Episcopal Cemetery, 2 E. High St., Hancock.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home 141 W. Main St., Hancock, and at the church Thursday at 10 a.m.

Robert Falke

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Robert Falke, 98, of Broward County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of Regency Residence in Margate, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach, Fla.

Born Sept. 22, 1902, in New York, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Minnie Kormorn Falk.

His wife of 62 years, Shirley Falke, died in 1991.

He retired at the age of 80 as a photo optic assemblyman for a photo equipment manufacturer, having spent most of his life as a collector/salesman in retail sales in Baltimore.

He was a member of Har Sinai Congregation, Baltimore.

He is survived by two sons, Burt A. Falke of Baltimore, and Dr. Gerald I. Falke of Hagerstown; a brother, Benjamin Falk of Margate; and a granddaughter.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Rabbi Janice Garfunkel will officiate. Burial will be in B'Nai Abraham Cemetery, Halfway.

There will be no viewing. Please omit flowers.

Harold E. Talhelm

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Harold E. "Tallie" Talhelm, 94, of Providence Place, 2085 Wayne Highway, and formerly of 11796 Stull Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Menno-Haven.

Born June 24, 1906, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John W. and Jennie Sellers Talhelm.

He attended Clay Hill (Pa.) School.

He was a self-employed homebuilder in the Franklin Co., Pa., area. He previously worked for Good Lumber Co., Quincy, Pa. and the State of Pennsylvania and for Antrim Township.

He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle and the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday school.

He was a member of Kauffman Ruritan Club; Greencastle Sportsmen's Association; National AARP and the former Waynesboro AARP Chapter 739; Greencastle Senior Center and Greencastle Senior Men's Club.
