In the second quarter, Gibson scored his 1,500th career point on a 3-point play before he and the rest of the Gaels nailed down a 63-39 victory over the St. Frances Panthers to clinch a tie for the regular-season championship in the Baltimore Catholic League.
"This is a good victory for us," Gibson said. "I think that this team came together as a solid group. Everybody knew their role and did it. We are anxious for the BCL playoffs to start."
Gibson, a 6-foot-4 forward, finished with 14 points and four steals.
"Of course, Rodney is Rodney," Goretti coach Cokey Robertson said. "He gets his clutch rebounds and he blocks. He has made magnificent contributions throughout the year.
