Mail Call for 2/19

"There was another article in the paper on Thursday about a purse snatching at the Wal-Mart, at the Centre of Hagerstown. I was wondering why don't they have better security out there, like they do at the mall?"

"Is there anything I can put down on my porch to keep the cats away? Not that I dislike the cats, but I just don't want them on my front porch."

"I would like to wish my hamster a happy second birthday and my pet turtle a happy third birthday, my snail, a happy second birthday and myself a happy 78th birthday."

"I want to wish Tammy a happy birthday on Feb. 22 from all the nursery kids at Calvary Grace Brethren Church. Happy birthday Tam."

"The lady who wanted the number to call the person who wanted cards. Yes, I still collect cards, my number is 301-733-2830. It doesn't matter if they are old or new."

"I wonder if I built an outhouse out along the road here, would there be a bunch of people protesting it? I am strictly against people in Funkstown protesting against the Wal-Mart when it doesn't even concern them."

"Attention, attention, Williamsport residents, the deadline to file for office is Feb. 23. We need some good people to run. If I was able to run, I would. From a concerned resident."

"Tell me, what is the correct way to spell canceled, is it with one L or two Ls?"

"I wish Wal-Mart would take their marbles and go home and let Funkstown alone. It is a very quiet and stable town."

"Hey, Lollipop, belated happy Valentine's Day to you."

"I saw in the paper on Thursday concerning the mayor of Funkstown, Wal-Mart and the traffic. Why don't they just block Funkstown off and don't let anyone in or out. Let them keep to themselves. I don't see where the traffic is going to hurt anything. What about other places?"

"I want to wish Brennan a happy first birthday. Love. Mom and Dad."

"Why should Catholic schools get money from the state for textbooks? The gaming operations around the state make millions of profits each month. Why don't they use that?"

"I want to thank Mr. Shockey and the great staff at South High for their dedication for coming in for 'Meet the Teachers Night' for the second semester. We have a terrific school and I think we should be very proud of the staff. As a parent, I am very glad that my child goes there."

"Here it is Thursday again and The Herald-Mail does not have the results of the Wednesday drawing in the lottery. They don't have their Charles Town Races entries in. We don't buy the paper to read about politicians, murderers, sex offenders. We buy the paper for sports, lottery and Mail Call. Please wise up. Thank you."

"I want to thank Deputy Rowland of the Washington County Sheriff's Department for stopping to help my aunt when she was broke down the other day. Thank you very much because a bunch of other cops just kept on rolling by. Thanks again, God bless."

"To the concerned citizen about Mr. Pereschuk running for the mayor of Williamsport. The concerned citizen had 'he is the man.' He is not the man, John Slayman 'is the man.' Another concerned citizen."

-Williamsport

"Mr. Pereschuk, your campaign literature that you are putting out in the town of Williamsport. Our mayor is already doing the things that you have on it. He is working with the elderly, he is working for the kids. As a matter of fact, he has a meeting once a month to hear what the kids want. Also, the deputies are working with him on this project and other people. You don't know what is happening because you resigned from all the committees you were on. Now you are left in the dark."
