Eden Pines Assisted Living

Mellisa Bowen was named Care Bear of the Year at Eden Pines Assisted Living in Hagerstown.

RSM McGladrey

FREDERICK, Md. - RSM McGladrey Inc., formerly known as Keller Bruner & Co. LLP, has hired Eugene Laffer as a tax manager in its Frederick office.

He has worked in public accounting for the past 20 years.

Chambersburg Area Council for the Arts

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jane Granata Carlson, of St. Thomas, Pa., has joined the staff of the Chambersburg Area Council for the Arts as a part-time administrative assistant.

Carlson, who replaces BethAnn Taylor, began working with Lisbeth S. Luka, executive director, and Anne H. Finucane, gallery and program director, in January.


Carlson most recently was bookkeeper at St. Thomas Assembly of God in St. Thomas.

Her new job includes managing the council's database and financial records, helping with the Annual Campaign, creating press releases, preparing the Newsletter/Calendar of Events and helping with all council programs.

Allegheny Power

WILLIAMSPORT - Allegheny Power completed $1.1 million worth of maintenance projects during 2000 to continue reliable electric service to customers in Washington and northwestern Frederick counties.

The improvements included streetlight relamping in Boonsboro; inspection, general maintenance and construction of overhead and underground electric facilities; and pole replacements.

Improvement projects totaling $1.2 million are scheduled for this year.

Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - An official ribbon cutting ceremony recently opened the newly renovated law offices of Bowles Rice McDavid Graff & Love at 101 S. Queen St. in Martinsburg.

The offices are now wired for advanced computer systems and equipped with latest video conferencing equipment.

The building houses 15 attorneys and 18 staff members.

Hagerstown Business College

Lawrence "Larry" Glenn, of Mont Alto, Pa., recently joined Hagerstown Business College as director of continuing education.

Glenn will develop relationships with area employers to help him design customized training for their unique needs.

Previously, he worked at Penn State Mont Alto as senior workforce development manager.

McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond

FREDERICK, Md. - K. Diane Bowers, of Emmitsburg, Md., was promoted to in-charge accountant at the Frederick office of McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm

Also, R. Scott Grimes, of Frederick, has joined the firm as a staff accountant in its Towson, Md., office.
