Lura O. Lewis

BEL AIR, Md. - Lura Opal Scott Lewis, 73, of Bel Air, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

She was the daughter of A. Blanche Scott and the late Lury S. Scott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ward Lewis.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by five children, Judith Martin, Catherine Dennison, W. Keith Lewis, Michael A. Lewis and Albert C. Lewis; three sisters, Sarah Nelson, Jacqueline Boniface and Carolyn Ruth; four brothers, James Scott, John Scott, Zeb Scott and Bryan Scott; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road in Bel Air. Burial will be in Harford Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sandra L. Bosley

CAVETOWN - Sandra Lou Bosley, 55, of 12023 Mapleville Road, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Hospice of Northern Virginia in Arlington, Va.

Born Jan. 5, 1946, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of Nellie Arlena Keckley Barkley of Smithsburg and the late Kenneth P. Barkley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Bosley Sr., in 1997.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Kim O'Kane and Melissa Bosley, both of Hagerstown, and Cheri L. Miller of Frederick, Md.; two sons, Clifford R. Bosley Jr. of Chicago and Michael Bosley of Frederick; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth P. Barkley Jr.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Peter Kemeny will officiate.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Church Cemetery in Romney, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ellis E. Platt

INWOOD, W.Va. - Ellis E. Platt, 64, of Inwood, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at her home.

Born Jan. 4, 1937, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Vanlear Zepp Robey of Barnwell, S.C., and the late James Robey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. "Bill" Platt.

She was owner and president of Ellis Construction Co. in Inwood.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by four daughters, Brenda L. Greenfield, Cheryl D. Anders and Kelly L. Hooe, all of Inwood, and Sonya D. Shreck of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; three sons, Darrell A. Platt, Dwayne L. Platt and Carlin R. Platt, all of Inwood; two sisters, Doris White of Virginia Beach, Va., and Vanlear Royer of Barnwell, S.C.; two brothers, Carl Robey of High Point, N.C., and Norman Robey of Inverness, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Riley and Delores Robbinson, and a brother, Robert Robey.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. The Rev. Devin B. Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Inwood.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Mary E. Thomas

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary E. Thomas, 66, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at her home.

Born Nov. 13, 1934, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Floyce Rickard and Rachel Painter Rickard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Thomas Sr.

She was employed by Charles Town Race Track.

She is survived by three daughters, Peggy Elliott of Middleway, W.Va., Shirley Mobley of Gerrardstown, W.Va., and Janet L. Wood of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a son, Steve J. Thomas of Charles Town, W.Va.; a brother, Robert Rickard of Middleway; a stepbrother, Marshall Rickard of Halltown, W.Va.; and 12 grandchildren, including Kenny Lee Thomas, whom she raised.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Thomas Jr.; two sisters, Arlene Silvious and Geneva Thomas; and a brother, Burt Rickard.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Elizabeth H. McKay

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Elizabeth Hooks McKay, 80, of 212 E. High St. and formerly of Silver Spring, Md., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born March 20, 1920, in Little Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Margaret Hart Hooks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Morris McKay, in 1987.

She had been a special education teacher in Little Falls public schools for 10 years and in Montgomery County, Md., public schools for 17 years.

She was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Shepherdstown.
