Jennifer Aiken of North Hagerstown High School; Jessica Fitzwater of Smithsburg High School; Kourtney Lowery of Boonsboro High School; and Emily Yonker of Washington County Technical High School will be honored during a tea Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m. at Benevola United Methodist Church, 19925 Benevola Church Road in Boonsboro.

The students were nominated by guidance counselors or teachers at their schools, said Ruann George, regent of the Antietam Chapter. They were selected based on community and school activities, as well as dependability, leadership and patriotism.

Each winner will receive a $50 savings bond from the chapter, a certificate and pin, George said.

To compete at the state level, Kourtney, Emily and Jennifer submitted essays on the topic "American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It." Jennifer's essay captured the state title, earning her $250.
