Robert E. Eaton

CLEAR SPRING - Robert E. Eaton, 71, of 12572 Indian Springs Road, who died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, is also survived by a brother, Stanley Eaton of Hagerstown.

Sally L. Whisner

GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Sally Lou Whisner, 56, of Great Cacapon, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Aug. 24, 1944, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Guy and Katherine Rebecca Arnold.

She was employed as a bookkeeper by Citizens National Bank in Berkeley Springs for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Floyd Whisner; two daughters, Dena Marie Kerns and Betsy Beddow, both of Berkeley Springs; a sister, Dine Rice of Bridgeport, W.Va.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St. in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Steve Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Eleanor L. Stewart

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eleanor Lee Stewart, 76, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at City Hospital.

Born Sept. 3, 1924, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Ayerly Rudy.

She had worked at Interwoven Mills and the Martinsburg Moose Club.

She was a member of Chapter 738 Women of the Moose, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Earl Stewart; a daughter, Carol Lee Puffinburger; a son, Russell Howard Stewart of Martinsburg; a brother, Albert Rudy of Martinsburg; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Sensel.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., in Martinsburg. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen V. Lynch

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Helen Virginia Lynch, 80, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at the home of her son in Hagerstown while under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born Nov. 18, 1920, in McCoy's Ferry, Md., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Maryetta Kline Robertson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Lynch.

She had retired from Berkeley Upholstery.

She was a former member of Martinsburg Baptist Temple, now known as Cornerstone Bible Church.

She was a member of Chapter 738 Women of the Moose and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was an activity coordinator for the Martinsburg Senior Center.

She is survived by four sons, Curtis W. Sprinkle of Hagerstown, Jerry W. Sprinkle of Royal Oak, Mich., Robert K. Sprinkle of Martinsburg and Roger L. Sprinkle of Aiken, S.C.; a sister, Frances Tedrick of Martinsburg; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., in Martinsburg. The Rev. William Burgett will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

William G. Kettering

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - William Glenville Kettering, 87, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Born Jan. 27, 1914, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Walker and Anna Catherine Adams Kettering.

He retired April 15, 1979, having worked as a printer with Martinsburg Paper Box Co. for 20 years and with Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing Company for 23 years. Master Printers of America awarded him a Certificate of Craftsmanship as a skilled cylinder pressman in 1972.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four years in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He was of the Episcopalian faith.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Adelaide Kathryn Olinger Kettering of Outlook Pointe in Martinsburg; a son, William G. Kettering II of Inwood, W.Va.; a sister, Jane Vitale of Richmond, Va.; and a number of cousins and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Oliver Kettering.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., in Martinsburg. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by the Veterans Combined Honor Guard of Martinsburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chauncey E. Butts

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Chauncey "Sonny" Edwin Butts, 58, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at City Hospital.

Born July 19, 1942, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Chauncey Lee and Ida M. Triggs Butts.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church.

He is survived by a sister, Gladys Pitzer of Martinsburg, and five nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., in Martinsburg. The Rev. Douglas J. Hollida will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
