Fowler hits game-winner for No. 5 South



MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Down 10 at the halftime break and tied after three quarters, No. 5 South Hagerstown still needed a little help Tuesday night against Middletown. Danny Fowler helped a lot.

Fowler only had five points on the night, but hit the game-winning jumper with four seconds to play to give the Rebels a 73-72 victory and keep them a half-game behind city rival North Hagerstown in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League standings.

Middletown (9-9, 8-6) had a shot to win, but D.J. Costello couldn't add to his game-high 26 points, missing a shot at the buzzer. Darin Gordon added 22 points and John Keimig finished with 12 for the Knights.

Mike Lee also had 26 points, along with 11 rebounds for South (13-3, 11-2) in a battle with Costello between the league's two best centers. Domonique Richmond finished with 18 points and nine assists.

HANCOCK - Southern Fulton led by 29 in the first half and cruised to its 14th straight victory. Andrew Hendershot and Will Whiteside led the Indians (18-2) with 15 points each.

Brandon Fling had 15 points and 12 rebounds while Chris Wills had 16 points, four steals and three assists for Hancock (4-11).

Wes Shafer had 12 points and six boards and Larry Browns had seven points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals for Brunswick (6-11, 5-9).
