Man charged with assault in Pa.

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - A Pennsylvania man was jailed after he threatened to kill a woman last week, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Donald Steve Bumbaugh, 36, of 5345 Race Track Road, was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault, police said.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Jan. 28, when the man allegedly punched a 27-year-old woman in the nose, kicked her in the back and grabbed a kitchen knife, threatening to kill her, police said.

Bumbaugh was arraigned before District Justice John Weyman and placed in Franklin County prison in lieu of $20,000. He was still there Sunday night.

Two injured in Greencastle wreck

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Two people were seriously injured when their car flipped over a guardrail Friday night, Pennsylvania State Police said.


The accident happened around 10:15 p.m. on Pa. 16 near Talhelms Service Station, about two miles north of Greencastle.

Carey Ann Keefer, 18, of Fort Loudon was attempting to pass a Jeep Wrangler when she lost control of her Subaru and impacted the driver's side of the Jeep, police said.

The impact forced the Jeep off the roadway, over a guardrail and into a utility pole, police said.

The driver and passenger in the Jeep were flown by Life Flight to York County Hospital in York, Pa., police said.

Police could not provide the victims' names or conditions Sunday.

Keefer was not injured.

Drug charges levied following Pa. probe

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two Chambersburg residents face assorted drug-related charges following an operation by several area law enforcement agencies recently, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Ronnell Whitehead, 22, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, police said.

Trish Kissel, 22, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, police said.

On Jan. 26, police filed charges against the pair based on information from an undercover drug transaction in May, police said.

At the time of their arrest at 105 W. Commerce St., police found one of the suspects in possession of five baggies of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police have also seized a 1994 Geo and $392 from Kissel.

The Franklin County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Drug Enforcement and Chambersburg Police assisted in the operation.

Kissel and Whitehead were put in Franklin County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail each.

Kissel was still in the jail Sunday night.

Speeding tickets issued by city PD

Hagerstown City Police issued 25 speeding tickets during an enforcement effort on West Washington Street Thursday.

Led by Sgt. William Carvel Wright III, members of the city police Speed Enforcement Squad were stationed at the 700 block of West Washington Street from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents in that area had lodged speeding complaints previously, police said.

As a prelude to the speeding enforcement effort, city police placed a mobile sign recording a vehicle's speed at the site.

Franklin Crime Solvers seeks help

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Franklin County Crime Solvers is looking for assistance in solving a burglary that happened a year ago in Chambersburg.

The burglary and theft occurred overnight on Jan. 7, 2000, to the rear of 101 W. King St.

A locked shed was forcibly entered with a pair of bolt cutters. Several portable tools, including a yellow Stanley portable air compressor, a red Milwaukee sawzall, a blue Makita cordless drill and two wrench sets were stolen.

The Chambersburg Borough Police Department continues to investigate the case.
