William R. George II

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - William R. "Robie" George II, 23, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at his home.

Born Nov. 16, 1977, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of William R. and Linda Wilson George of Hedgesville.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Juanita Louise Wilson of Stephens City, Va.; his great-grandmother, Margaret McElwain of Owensboro, Ky.; aunts; uncles and cousins.

Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Belinda C. Johnson

MILLVILLE, W.Va. - Belinda Carol Johnson, 33, of Millville, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born March 5, 1967, in Ranson, she was the daughter of Alfred H. Johnson Jr. and Ruth L. Hardy Johnson of Millville.

She was a 1985 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.

She was a Protestant.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her close friend and companion, Clarence E. Nicholson; maternal grandmother, Thelma R. Hardy of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three sisters, Darla Johnson of Chambersburg, Pa., Cynthia Robinson of Bealton, Va., and Angela Painter of Harpers Ferry; a nephew; and numerous cousins.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Joseph Fraley will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Grace L. Myers

QUINCY, Pa. - Grace L. Johns Myers, 96, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 108 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa., died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at the nursing home.

Born Dec. 20, 1904, in Kauffman Station, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William S. and Rosy A. Johns.

Her husband, Harry William Myers, died June 30, 1968.

She worked at Greencastle Canning Factory, the Spitz Co., and Victor Hoisery Co., all of Greencastle. She last worked for Knouse Foods, Orrtanna, Pa.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by a son, Richard E. Myers of Greencastle; and three grandchildren, Suzanne Myers and Shawn Myers, both of Greencastle, and Stephanie Myers of Parkville, Md. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Harry William Myers, in 1938; 11 brothers and sisters; and a grandson.

Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Robert Thacker will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the services at the funeral home.




Osmond L. Poole

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Osmond Leiter Poole, 79, of 20 W. Washington St., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at ManorCare Health Services.

Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Milliard Guy and Ruth Irene Poole.

His wife, Edith Poole, died in 1993.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He participated in the landing at Anzio, Italy, receiving the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Pa.

He is survived by a stepson, Charles Crist of Chambersburg; a brother, Roy Poole; and two nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. Almond D. Baird will officiate.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 V.F.W., Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to ManorCare Health Services, 1070 Stouffer Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Helen G. Roberts

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Helen Gregg Roberts, 84, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Shenandoah Health Village Center.

Born May 19, 1916, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Jonathan and Grace Whitmore Roberts.

She was a 1934 graduate of Charles Town High School, and a graduate of West Hampton College of the University of Richmond, Richmond, Va.

She retired after 40 years as a Latin and mathematics teacher in Jefferson County, W.Va., Schools.

She was a member of Charles Town Presbyterian Church, Charles Town.

She was a member of Jefferson County Chapter, American Red Cross; West Virginia Retired Teachers Association; and AARP.

She is survived by five cousins, Betty Whitmore Shaw of Silver Spring, Md., Jane Snyder Watson of Martinsburg, Col. Philip Myers of Richmond, Mary Elizabeth Williams of Leesburg, Va., and Peggy Whitmore Johnson of Calvert County, Md.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. John Alfriend will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
