Jessie E. Ballenger

BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Jessie Elizabeth Ballenger, 72, of Zerger Street, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born March 14, 1928, in Millville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewis Calvin and Gertrude Reynolds Ballenger.

She retired from Dixie-Narco Co. in Ranson.

She was a Protestant.

She was a blood donor for the American Red Cross.

She is survived by a sister, Violet L. Rowland of Charles Town, W.Va.; five nieces and seven nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oscar Ballenger, Calvin Ballenger and Paul Ballenger.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Randolph T. Rice

BOONSBORO - Randolph Thomas Rice, 77, of 21012 San Mar Road, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at his home.

Born July 28, 1923, in Locust Grove, Md., he was the son of the late Otho Carlton and Blanche Lovetta Thomas Rice.

He retired in 1985 from CSX Railroad in Brunswick, Md.

He was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Locust Grove.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lucia Martha Wagner Rice; two daughters, Bonnie Sprecher and Randy Humphries, both of Hagerstown; a son, Ricky Rice of Rohrersville; three sisters, Rhoda Rice and Dorothy Norris, both of Rohrersville and Freeda McClure of Havre de Grace, Md.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen E. Violet.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Blaine E. Feightner will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Locust Grove.

There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.




June V. Wagaman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - June V. Shanholtz Wagaman, 80 of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of 11057 Worleytown Road, Greencastle, Pa., died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born June 24, 1920, near Mercersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Stewart V. and Elva G. Bricker Sword.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred S. Shanholtz, in 1956.

She attended Greencastle schools.

She was employed by SKF Factory in Shippensburg, Pa. in the late 1950's.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.

She is survived by her second husband, Harry M. Wagaman; a daughter, Teresa D. Barbuzanes of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sons, L. Keith Shanholtz of Marion, Pa. and Kurtis Wagaman of Morehead City, N.C.; two sisters, Leola Bitner and Nellie Mowen, both of Greencastle; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister; two brothers and two grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St. in Greencastle. The Rev. Stacy A. Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle.

The family will receive friends Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

At her request, there will be no public viewing.

Barbara J. Weese

Barbara Jean Hartle Weese, 59, of 437 Ridge Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at her home.

Born Dec. 31, 1941, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Pauline Miller Hartle.

She was employed by Western Maryland Hospital Center for more than 37 years.

She was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport.

She is survived by a son, Ray Weese of Hagerstown; two brothers, Edwin L. Hartle of Hagerstown and Richard E. Hartle of Williamsport; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one nephew.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.




Catharine H. Reynolds

LANCASTER, Pa. - Catharine H. "Kay" Reynolds, 94, of Village Vista Nursing Home, 1941 Benmar Drive and formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at the nursing home.

Born Aug. 27, 1906, in Paris, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Mary Alice Baber Horning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Reynolds.

She was a graduate of Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C.

She taught music in public schools in New Jersey.

She was a member First Presbyterian Church in Martinsburg, where she was an organist and choir director for many years.
