The Groves

Mr. and Mrs. John E. Grove of Wilson, Md., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, with family and friends at the Wilson Ruritan Building. The celebration was hosted by their children and spouses, Royce and Ellie Robinson, Randy and Nancy Grove, and Gerald and Bette Mae Lee.

The Groves were married Nov. 25, 1950, in Clear Spring, by the Rev. Wade Hoffman, now deceased.

Mrs. Grove is the former Helen Robinson, daughter of the late John and Cora Mae Robinson. She retired from Colton Villa Nursing Home.

Mr. Grove is the son of the late Ernest and Hannah Grove. He retired from Supreme Concrete Block Company and is a former auctioneer.


The Groves have five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The Shanks

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shank of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at home with their family.

The Shanks were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church by the Rev. Dausch, now deceased.

Mrs. Shank is the former June Harris, daughter of the late Henry and Lelia Harris.

Mr. Shank is the son of the late Benjamin and Grace Shank. He retired from Beachley Furniture Co., with more than 50 years of service. He served two years in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Their children and spouses are Bobbie and Jeff Ecker of Hagerstown, and Jenny and Dave Friedrich of Greencastle, Pa. They have two granddaughters.

The Tebbses

Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Tebbs of Boonsboro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Victory Baptist Church, where they were honored at a dinner reception in the church social hall. Their children, Anita Lynn Tebbs of Hagerstown, Felecia Skidmore of Lakeland, Fla., and Richard Tebbs Jr. of Conway, S.C., hosted the event.

The Tebbses were married Dec. 9, 1950.

Mrs. Tebbs is the retired director of Anita Lynn Home on Broadfording Church Road, which she and her husband founded in 1970. She is employed with the Commission on Aging at Walnut Towers.

Mr. Tebbs retired from Sharrett of Hagerstown, where he was a salesman for 25 years. He is employed at Reliable Furniture in Hagerstown.

They live at Fahrney-Keedy Retirement Community in Boonsboro.

The Coxes

Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Cox of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at a luncheon with family and friends at Four Points Hotel Sheraton in Hagerstown. Their children, Robby and Beverly, and three grandchildren hosted the event. Guests attended from Colorado, Ohio, North Carolina, West Virginia, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

The Coxes were married Nov. 18, 1950, at Piney Plains United Methodist Church near Little Orleans by the Rev. W. DeWitt Dickey.

Mrs. Cox is the former Dorcas Creek, daughter of the late Helen and Roy Creek of Hancock. She received training as a registered nurse from the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. She retired from Washington County Hospital, where she was a registered nurse.

Mr. Cox is the son of the late Alv and Lessie Cox of Portales, N.M. He retired from Potomac Edison Co.
