Since then, the Hawks have won eight of their last 10 games, which includes five of their last seven conference games.
That run has improved HCC's overall record to 12-7 and its conference record to 7-4.
The Hawks' latest victory was a big 79-47 win over the Cecil Seahawks on Monday night in Maryland JuCo action.
Brooke Russ scored a team-high 16 points, while Candice Tucker came off of the bench to add 14 points for HCC. Emily Middlekauff and reserve Naomi Mason had 10 points each.
"The team hustled really good," Middlekauff said. "When we have a good offensive output, it means that our team is working hard on its defense. The improvement that we have made since the beginning of the season has boosted our confidence. I think that we have started to play up to our potential. We have come together on defense and that helps to set the tempo for the rest of the game."
