'Left behind: The Movie' brings book series to the big screen

"Left Behind: The Movie" brings the spectacular book series by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye to the big screen.

Part religious end-times movie, part conspiracy film, "Left Behind" combines biblical predictions for the end of the world with a lot of action.

Captain Rayford Steele (Brad Johnson) discovers that some people and all children on his airplane have disappeared - right out of their clothes. But the catastrophe wasn't restricted to only his plane. The disappearances were worldwide.

While searching for the reason why this happened, Rayford finds answers at his wife's church. She had warned him that one day many people would disappear and be taken to heaven, but he didn't believe her.

Journalist Buck Williams (Kirk Cameron) is on his own quest for answers. Following clues from friends, he uncovers a conspiracy to control the world's food supply. He, like Rayford, finds himself in church. But it takes a meeting with Nicolae Carpathia (Gordon Currie), the Anti-Christ himself, to convince Buck to believe.

While the movie was great, the book series was much better. That is often true, though, when movies are made from books. Still, the movie is something you'll want to catch while it's at a theater.
