"Attention, residents of the Williamsport/Downsville area. The nine-acre truck stop at Md. 68 and Md. 63 Spielman Road is back! A new site plan has been submitted to the Maryland State Highway Administration for approval. The new plan also includes an 83-room hotel and a 10,000-square-foot high-turnover restaurant across from the truck stop. A meeting for the general public will be held at the Downsville School building near the Downsville General Store on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m., snow date Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. To ensure our safety and protect our community, please attend this meeting."

"This is for Tony, you know who you are and you know who this is. Just remember our song, 'Breathe' by Faith Hill."

"Are there other churches that have singles groups besides the Church of God?"

"Someone wanted to know about replacing the post office on Northern Avenue. They are going to build a new one, right across from Sears on Leitersburg Pike."

"I am glad that the runway extension is not in the state's plan's. It is comforting to know that somebody is using good judgment."

- Hagerstown

"To the person getting everyone upset by putting up signs saying, 'Save our school in the Cascade area.' The best thing that could happen to school children of Cascade is to go to Smithsburg Elementary. It was recognized this past year as a 'Blue Ribbon School.' Smithsburg Elementary always scored better on the MSPAP test and other state-given tests. The school itself is a lot nicer than Cascade, which is outdated. There is air conditioning. It is only an eight-mile drive by bus and well worth it. Most parents in the mountains already have their children already enrolled in some type of extracurricular activity in Smithsburg."

"Can anyone tell us how we can get the crosswalks cleaned off here in Hagerstown, downtown especially? Can't they do something about the water and ice in the middle of West Washington? The ice is about four foot across this time. It has been a continuous problem since it got cold. Any ideas would be greatly accepted."

"Please, if you notice a case of animal abuse and neglect, call the SPCA. They are the people who can investigate the claim. You can do it without giving your identity. But you have to give them the address of the abused pet and let them help the animal. It does not do any good to call Mail Call."

"To the person who is concerned about the $55 million that was spent on President Clinton's investigation. He did lead this country for eight years and I am proud that I voted for him both times. What did this election in Florida cost the taxpayers?"

"In response to the person who said, 'he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.' I bet you that is the only verse that person knows out of the Bible."

"For all those who don't know how to cook or for the elderly on fixed incomes, here is a recipe that is cheap, quick and easy. Take a cup of V-8 juice, a cup of water and a beef bouillon cube and bring to a boil. Add small amount of Minute Rice and let stand for five minutes. Now you've got a quick and easy soup."

"I am also concerned about all of the out-of-state license plates at the schools. It is not only West Virginia, it is many other states also. I know for a fact some of these people live in Maryland and have for several months and years. How can we put a stop to this?"

"I live on Jefferson Boulevard, a snow emergency route. I would like to know why many, many vehicles are left on the road when the snow emergency plan is in effect? Why aren't these vehicles towed or the owners fined?"

"This is to thank the snow angel, Linda on West Washington Street."
