A Hagerstown woman was in serious condition at Washington County Hospital Friday night after being stabbed during a domestic dispute earlier in the day, according to Hagerstown police.

Jessica Haley, 20, suffered a lacerated liver, punctured gall bladder and superficial neck wound, Lt. Margaret Kline said.

Haley's boyfriend, Vonzell Lacraige Johnson, 25, of 29 E. Salisbury St. in Williamsport, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless endangerment, Kline said.

Johnson allegedly stabbed Haley during a late morning argument in her 207 Taylor Ave. apartment, Kline said.

Hagerstown Police were called to Washington County Hospital at 11:15 a.m. Friday to investigate the stabbing after Haley was dropped off at the hospital by a man in a full-size maroon van, Kline said.

Police were on the lookout for the van, and deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Department stopped the vehicle near Smithsburg, Kline said.

Hagerstown Police were then called to the scene, where they found Johnson, she said.

Johnson was being held on $175,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center Friday night.
