Overington plans town hall meetings

By BOB PARTLOW / Staff Writer, Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - State Del. John Overington, R-Berkeley, will hold two town hall meetings Saturday.

"I try to hold town meetings with citizens prior to the legislative session," Overington said. The legislative session begins next month.

Among the topics Overington will cover will be crime, taxes and roads, he said. He'll also discuss his citizen survey, which he has conducted for the 17th year.

Anyone wishing more information about the issues or to fill out the survey can do so by going to his Web site at www.overington.com.

The 16-question survey asks for citizens' opinions on issues ranging from expansion of gambling, the proposed Martinsburg bypass, regulation of all-terrain vehicles, required union membership for jobs and zoning in Berkeley County.

Saturday's meeting will last from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Marlowe Ruritan. The second meeting will run from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Baker Heights Volunteer Fire Department on W.Va. 9.
