Margaret P. Freeman

Margaret Paris Cook Freeman, 93, of Avalon Manor Health Care Center, 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, who died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, was preceded in death by her husband, Russell A. Freeman.

Austin G. Rinker

Austin G. Rinker, 72, of 1020 Oxford Circle, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at his home.

Born May 27, 1928, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Theodore E. and Mina E. Allender Rinker.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lyndell M. Cromer Rinker, in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Army for 34 years, retiring in 1986 with the rank of first sergeant. He received the World War II Victory Ribbon, the Korean Service Metal with two bronze stars and the Vietnam Service Metal with four stars.


He was a member of VFW Post 1936 and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion, both of Hagerstown, AMVETS Post 224 of Chambersburg, Pa., Sad Sacks, Association of the U.S. Army NCO and National AARP.

He is survived by his wife, Cathryn M. Henderson Rinker; a son, Austin G. Rinker Jr. of Funkstown; a stepdaughter, Janice L. Leedy of Chambersburg; a stepson, Jeffrey L. Rotz of Chambersburg; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Liana Marie Rinker, and a brother, Robert E. Rinker.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military services by AMVETS Post 224 of Chambersburg and AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Herbert S. Robins

A memorial service for Herbert Sidney Robins, 78, of 1321 Woodland Way, who died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, will be held Saturday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., in Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Helen M. Bauroth

WILLIAMSPORT - Helen M. Bauroth, 91, of 16505 Virginia Ave., who died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, is survived by a daughter, Barbara Simone of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Donna M. Willis

Donna M. Willis, 69, formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in Laurel, Md.

Born in Salem, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur R. Finley and Anna Mae Lemaster.

She was a terminal agent at a trucking company.

She was a member of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, John Willis; one daughter, Kathie Stafford; one son, Kevin Willis; and four grandchildren.

Services will be private.

Arrangements are by Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel.

Charles Rubin

BALTIMORE - Charles Rubin died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine "Kay" Robinson Rubin; two daughters, Judith M. Labombarde and Mary H. Rubin; two sons, Robert L. Rubin and Richard M. Rubin; two sisters, Anita Amsel of Ossining, N.Y., and Ruth Edlow of Owings Mills, Md.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be today at 9 a.m. at Sol Levinson and Bros. Inc., 8900 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore. Burial will be in Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, N.Y.

The family will be in mourning at 18017 Oak Ridge Drive in Hagerstown for one week.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 8600 LaSalle Road, Suite 602, Towson, MD 21286.

J. Douglas Maclary

VENICE, Fla. - J. Douglas Maclary, 84, of Venice, and formerly of Camp Hill, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001.

He was born Sept. 28, 1916, in New York.

He was a graduate of the University of Georgia.

He retired after 38 years as district manager from Coca Cola Co. in Camp Hill and Hagerstown.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, a former member of Jacaranda West Country Club and delivered Meals-on-Wheels.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Maclary; a daughter, Susan Smith of Venice; a son, John D. Maclary of York, Pa.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Venice.

George E. Hess

WINCHESTER, Va. - George E. Hess, 83, of Hilltop House Nursing Home, and formerly of 16 E. North St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at the home.

Born Jan. 24, 1917, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Andrew M. and Mary K. Eyler Hess.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah E. Good Hess, in 1971. They were married May 31, 1946.

He was a 1936 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

He was employed in the sales department of the Forest and Machinery Division of the Frick Co. in Waynesboro. He worked for Frick Forest Products, retiring in 1981.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro.

He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, both of Waynesboro.
