Hawks streak past Baltimore

BALTIMORE - Hagerstown Community College kept itself in Wednesday night's game against Baltimore with its long-range shooting, then put Baltimore away at the free-throw line.

The Hawks made 10 3-pointers, including five straight early in the first half, then rattled off a 22-4 run midway through the second half for a 107-93 victory in the Maryland JuCo Conference.

HCC (16-2) led 64-58 with 15 minutes, 23 seconds to play, only to stretch its lead by making 21 of 26 free throws. On its few misses, the Hawks picked up the offensive rebounds and made their putbacks.

Eric Branham had a team-high 20 points and added seven assists. Bayi Handy's 20 points were a career-high and he also had five steals. Gebront Gaddy finished with nine rebounds.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Greg Kinsey had a game-high 20 points, including a 6-for-6 effort from the line in the fourth quarter, as the Blue Storm held on.

Mercersburg (7-3) put four players in double figures. Antoine McGee had 11 assists and Jamie Hughes added 13 rebounds for the Blue Storm. Damon McDowell had 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Jermar Togans had 16 for the Cougars (4-5).
