SALEM, W.Va. (AP) - Derrick Paul scored 20 points to lead Salem International to a 78-65 victory over Shepherd on Thursday night.

Salem (10-1, 4-0 West Virginia Conference) won its eighth straight game.

Demond Tapscott scored 21 to lead Shepherd (5-3, 2-2). Antar Parkman added 15.

ST. JAMES - Amanda Miles led Heritage (5-5) over the Saints with eight points, nine rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Allison Leasure had 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four blocks for the Eagles.

Kourtney Logan led St. James (3-4) with a game high 12 points and also a game-high 14 rebounds.

2001 Quad States Spring Training Baseball Clinic

The 2001 Quad States Spring Training Baseball Clinic willl offer a Jump Start Program for any high school player in the four state area, which will be held at Catoctin High School in Thurmont, Md.

The clinic will be under the direction of Jim Gilbert, who served as the Baltimore Orioles' Scouting Supervisor for 27 years.

The clinic, which focuses on hitting, fielding, and getting participants in top shape for the upcoming season, will operate for six weekends, starting Jan. 21, 2001 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and concluding on Feb. 25.

The Coaches Clinic will operate simultaneously with the Clinic. The cost is $240 for high school players and $150 for coaches.

Parents of Rebel Baseball and Softball Players Meeting

There will be a meeting for parents of South Hagerstown High School baseball and softball players on Jan. 17 in the cafeteria at E. Russell Hicks School at 7 p.m. Coach Eversole and Coach McCoy will share information about the upcoming season. All parents and interested supporters of the teams, both varsity and junior varsity, are asked to attend.

Community Midnite Basketball

All are welcome to participate in Community Midnite Basketball, starting tonight from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. and continuing every Friday. The festivities will occur at Martin L. King Gym at 131 N. Street in Hagerstown. For more information and directions contact Gary Washington at 301-791-3483 after 5.
