N.Y. man sought in connection with shooting



A warrant has been issued charging Gerald Winston Jones, 19, of New York, with attempted murder in a New Year's Eve shooting in Hagerstown.

Jones, also known as G-Rap, faces additional charges of reckless endangerment and first- and second-degree assault, police said.

Lt. Gary Spielman said Jones remained at large and asked for help from the community in locating him. Any information or sightings may be reported to him at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.

"He is black, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds," Spielman said.

On Dec. 31 at 5:11 a.m., officers of the Hagerstown Department of Police responded to 439 N. Mulberry St. for a report of a shooting.

Upon their arrival, the officers contacted the victim, identified as Eric Dameron Campbell, of 439 N. Mulberry St, who was lying on his back in the front doorway of the residence. Campbell advised police he had been shot by an unidentified man.

Campbell had suffered several gunshot wounds from what police believe was a .380 semiautomatic handgun.

Campbell remained at Washington County Hospital in fair condition Thursday evening.

"The Hagerstown Department of Police is working with the FBI who has offered to assist in locating Jones," Spielman said .
